ANDREW DIVOFF

In the beginning of time, two forms of life were first created. One were the Angels and the other were the Djinn, a race of beings bent on humanity's destruction and ruling Earth. But the Djinn can only take over when one of their own grants three wishes to the person who wakes him. And the Djinn has a way to turn one's wildest dreams into their worst nightmare. In 1997, when a statue carrying the jewel that holds a Djinn hostage is destroyed, a young gemologist (Tammy Lauren) accidently wakes the Djinn (Andrew Divoff) and releases him into the world where he can complete his hellish mission. But can she figure out the perfect wish that will banish the Djinn forever and save humanity.

Andrew Divoff is the man who plays the mythical djinn. He plats the part perfectly. With his evil stare and cunning accent he has made a place for himself in the hearts of horror fans everywhere. I must admit when i saw the latest wishmaster flick and realized that the djinn was not being played by andrew, instead the djinn was played by shaun connery's pathetic british offspring i got pretty pissed. I sat thru the movie and regretted every minute. whoevers idea it was to not cast andrew should burn............

ANDREW DIVOFF
BIRTHDATE: July 12, 195?? (unknown--the IMDB says 1944??!!)
BIRTHPLACE: British Columbia, Canada
MARITAL STATUS: ????
WHY HE DESERVES HIS BIG BREAK:
You don't necessarily have to be in good movies to qualify as a That Guy, and Andrew Divoff is proof of that. He's made a career out of playing multi-cultural villains in movies both high-caliber and straight to video. He's played a Russian terrorist in Air Force One, a Spanish terrorist in Toy Soldiers, a Mexican drug lord in A Low Down Dirty Shame, a lizard-faced gunfighter in the futuristic western Oblivion, and just about everything else in between. His most memorable role so far is the satanic 'Djinn' of the "so cheesy it's fun" Wishmaster series. The Djinn, for those of you who aren't familiar with the series, is a magical being who will grant your every wish, but tends to take things somewhat literally--for instance, when he meets a prison inmate who wishes to walk right through the bars of his cell, the Djinn grants him just that: by squishing him through the bars.
One thing that sets Andrew Divoff apart from the rest of the "B movie" crowd is his genuine love for acting and his movies, regardless of the quality. This love and gratitude for his fans comes across both in interviews and in his official website, which for all intents and purposes appears to be maintained by Divoff himself. You gotta love that--even if he does occasionally appear in movies with titles like Nemesis 4: Death Angel.
